Fun Photo Classes.

Many people have a camera. Not as many know how to use it well.I have been conducting some fun, casual, informal camera and photography classes lately. We have had a lot of fun, with my 'students' learning how to get the best out of whatever gear they have. Shooting some great portrait shots in the first class was very satisfying. One students image of her friend (who creatively brought some little LED's!) was a winner! They have also had the...

The amazing underwater realm

I have been back home on Magnetic Island for the past month. The weather has been superb, the winter being my favourite time of year.I have been shooting a lot of nature and landscapes, as well as teaching photography and underwater photography courses. My carefully, creatively lit shot of the Featherstar (above) is one of my most recent favourites. The excellent crew at Pleasure Divers have been great fun to hang out and dive with. I have been...

An Excellent Event.

I recently had the pleasure of being recommended to TrustSphere, to shoot a social event they were hosting.I broke out the fast primes (200mm f2 and 85mm f1.4) to crush the backgrounds and capture some gorgeous images of the guests as they enjoyed their conversations. It was a fun evening, with many a candid shot taken of the guests, but I also switched to a wider lens so I could get a number of group shots too. Thanks to my friend and colleague...

Lizards and lenses...

I was fortunate enough to be loaned a big box of Olympus goodness a while ago.It has just had to go back, but in the 2 months I had it, I managed to do a pretty good job at putting it through its paces.I shot a ton of video with it during the filming of the Okto Cup over a couple of weekends, and the 5-axis sensor-shift stabilisation was amazing. Hand-held footage was buttery-smooth and cinematic.Testing it for stills was more my forte though,...

FOOD SHOOT!

It's been a little while since I got to do a food shoot. This one was actually only one dish per location, but at 9 different locations over three days. The images are all featured in the main feature for this months edition of Wine & Dine Magazine. It was a fun three days, but contrary to popular belief, we didn't get to scoff each meal! In fact, we only got to eat all of one dish, and got a freshly prepared sample of one other... but damn,...
